How we built a 400-member climate investor community across 40 cities in 24 months
And what it taught us about leadership, trust, and momentum
When we launched Investors for Climate (I4C), the ambition was never simply to convene people around climate. It was to build a movement.
One grounded in purpose. Fuelled by trust. Designed for action.
We didn’t have a playbook. What we had was conviction - that the climate crisis cannot be solved in silos, and that capital moves faster, smarter, and more courageously when investors are connected through shared values and real relationships.
Twenty-four months later, Investors for Climate has grown into a 400+ member global community spanning 40 cities - from Singapore to Zurich, Dubai to New York. Entirely relationship-led. Entirely built on trust.
Along the way, we’ve seen co-investments form, deals accelerate, and long-term partnerships emerge. More importantly, we’ve learned a great deal about leadership in an era that demands speed, collaboration, and integrity.
Here are three lessons that continue to shape how we grow.
1. Purpose Creates Power
Clarity is a growth strategy.
From the start, we were explicit about who Investors for Climate is for - and who it is not.
We are not a general sustainability education platform. We are not an entry-level community for those still exploring ESG as a concept.
Investors for Climate is designed for active investors deploying capital into climate solutions.
That focus has been decisive. It allows us to curate with intention, build trust quickly, and spend less time explaining why we exist - and more time creating value.
When we co-hosted a startup pitch event at the Singapore Stock Exchange with SGX and partnered with Temasek’s alternative protein innovation arm, Nurasa, we knew exactly who should be in the room - fund managers, family offices, and angels ready to invest.
They did.
That evening sparked multiple follow-on conversations and at least one deal currently in progress.
Focus creates momentum. Momentum builds trust.
2. Leadership Is Shared, Not Centralised
The strongest communities are not built top-down. They are co-created.
At Investors for Climate, leadership is not about holding the microphone - it’s about passing it.
Our Ambassador Program has been the engine behind our global expansion. From Melbourne to London, Hong Kong to Paris, local leaders have stepped forward to host, convene, and shape their own investor ecosystems under a shared global vision.
Every time we empower others to lead, we scale more than geography - we scale belief.
Equally important - we listen.
Our evolution has been guided by our members - from requests for more sector-specific deal flow (agritech, nature-based solutions) to deeper regional insights across Southeast Asia and Africa. The most meaningful pivots we’ve made didn’t come from a strategy deck, but from conversations.
Strong communities are built with people, not for them.
3. Progress Beats Perfection
Momentum matters more than polish.
We’ve experimented. We’ve iterated. We’ve learned in public. And we’ve kept showing up.
Community-building is not a static achievement - it’s a living ecosystem that thrives on feedback, adapts quickly, and rewards action over ego.
One of our proudest milestones was launching our first syndicate investment into Coast 4C, an Earthshot Prize finalist working to regenerate marine ecosystems and coastal economies through sustainable seaweed farming across Southeast Asia.
It wasn’t perfect. It was aligned.
And it happened because we trusted our collective instinct and moved forward together.
Impact doesn’t always arrive with fanfare. Sometimes it looks like a quiet diligence call, a conviction-led pitch, or a WhatsApp message that turns into a term sheet.
When founders get funded and capital flows into solutions that regenerate the planet, we know this model works.
Where Capital Meets Founder Readiness - The Unstoppable Accelerator
As our community matured, we began asking a deeper question: what does responsible capital-building look like on the founder side?
As our investor community grew, one insight became increasingly clear - capital alone is not enough.
Many of the most promising climate founders we met were solving real problems, but lacked access to the networks, confidence, fundraising fluency, and strategic support required to scale.
The I4C Unstoppable Accelerator was created to bridge that gap.
Designed for early-stage climate founders, Unstoppable pairs hands-on guidance with meaningful exposure to investors, helping founders sharpen their narratives, strengthen their commercial readiness, and build the confidence to engage capital on their own terms.
What makes the program distinctive is not volume, but depth. Founders are supported by our network - investors, operators, and peers - who understand the realities of building in climate, not just the theory.
The results speak through the founders themselves (see testimonials below).
Building What Comes Next
To every member, Ambassador, partner, and believer in this mission - thank you. What we are building is both ambitious and deeply human.
And we are only just getting started.
If you believe capital is one of the most powerful tools we have to accelerate climate solutions, there is a place for you here.
